Please read on for some helpful information about our most-asked questions.

If you are interested in adopting a pet:
(1) The pet is usually still available for adoption if it is listed on our website. The pet may have applications or meetings pending, but the adoption has likely not yet been finalized. We do our best to remove pets from our website as soon as the adoption is official. We have more kittens/cats that are not posted on our website.
(2) Please fully read the pet's online biography for information about their personality and home requirements under the tab AVAILABLE PETS at http://www.maggiesmissionrescue.org/adoptions
(3) If you feel your home is a match or want to determine if your home is a match, you must fill out our Adoption Application found under the APPLICATIONS tab at
http://www.maggiesmissionrescue.org

(4) In many cases, we receive multiple applications for a pet. We are always looking for the best fit for both the adoptive family as well as the pet.  Our pets are not adopted on a "first come, first serve" basis.
(5) Our pets are all located in private foster homes in the Akron, Ohio area. We do not have a physical shelter. We only adopt our pets within a three-hour radius. We do not ship pets.
(6) Meetings with pets will only be scheduled once an application is submitted, reviewed, and approved. We try our best to complete this process within 3-5 days. We are all volunteers, so please be patient!
(7) If you are determined not to be a match for the pet or the pet is already adopted, we will do our best to match you with someone else!

Adoption fees:
Puppies (under one year of age): $300
Adult dogs (one year of age or older): $250
Senior dogs (over 8 years of age): $100
Kittens (under one year of age): $100
Adult cats (one year of age or older): $75
Horse adoption fees vary

All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV tested, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Species-appropriate medical care is provided to all other kinds of pets.

If you are interested in surrendering a pet, we rarely intake owner surrenders and are full and cannot intake any at this time. As most shelters and rescues are currently full and overwhelmed with unwanted pets right now, attempting to address whatever issue is causing you to consider rehoming your pet is the best option to prevent euthanasia (killing) of your pet. If you need food, training, or other assistance to keep your pet in your home, please let us know. If you absolutely must surrender your pet, we suggest using

http://www.rehome.adoptapet.com or getting on a waitlist at your local humane society. The best way to make sure your pet stays safe is to keep them with you or make arrangements with trusted family or friends. Even the most dedicated shelters face overcrowding and illness in their facilities, and sadly, some pets will not make it out alive. Your pet relies on you to keep them safe.

If you found a stray dog, as a rescue, we cannot intake stray dogs. All stray dogs must be impounded by the county dog warden for their legal stray hold so that their owner has an opportunity to find them.

If your inquiry is NOT about one of the above topics, we will attempt to respond within 72 hours.
